Main Street Portage needs and  accepts monetary donations to continue its work. Tax-deductible donations can be sent to:

Donations can be earmarked for a top project or added to the general fund. 

Top projects include:

  1. Mercantile Building  Facade Restoration

  2. Events Sponsorship

  3. Downtown Beautification. 

Main Street Portage is a 501(c)(3) corporation. All donations are deductible to the extent allowed by law. Information about the deductibility of donations of membership costs, in-kind services, and items is available through the IRS. Design

. . . means getting Main Street into top physical shape. Capitalizing on its best assets, such as historic buildings and pedestrian-oriented streets, is just part of it. An inviting atmosphere, created through attractive window displays, parking areas, building improvements, street furniture, signs, sidewalks, street lights, and landscaping, conveys a positive visual message about the commercial district and what it has to offer. Design activities also include instilling good maintenance practices in the commercial district, enhancing the physical appearance of the commercial district by rehabilitating historic buildings, encouraging appropriate new construction, developing sensitive design management systems, and long-term planning.

 

Design Committee

Meets the the 2nd Monday of each month @ 3pm in the Mercantile (117 West Cook Street)

Goal: Enhance the character of the commercial historic districts through good design and public amenities compatible with historic features.
