FARMERS’ MARKET GUIDELINES AND PROCEDURES

SPRING 2007

Once Again it is time to say thank you to all who helped make the Portage Farmers market the success it was last year. We are looking forward to an even better year in 2007.

Gil Meisgeier will be managing the Market again this year.

We are dedicated to ever improving conditions for the vendors and we have been busy making plans for expanded advertising, more ambiance and adding events to draw more people to purchase your wonderful wares. Last year we added Farmers’ Market street pole banners. The electric power installed last summer allows more opportunities for cooking demonstrations, refrigeration and entertainment. This year we are adding twelve directional sandwich boards to be placed at strategic locations in the city directing people to the Thursday market. And wait till you see what has happened to the barrels we use to mark the vendor area. Of course the benches and flower planters will again welcome all who visit you at our market.

We are also pleased to inform you that the rates will remain the same as the last three years, five dollars a week, fifteen dollars by the month or seventy five dollars for the whole season. As always, all fees collected go directly back into the Farmers Market for advertising and improvements.

Enclosed you will find the guidelines, fee schedule, some suggestions for successful farmers’ marketing, and a vendors agreement form which you must complete and either mail or bring to the market with your payment.
